At one end is a 3.5 cm-long albite crystal totally invested by silvery chlorite of some sort, and shimmers. At the other end is a 1.25-cm-long , gemmy and glassy, doubly-terminated , colorless crystal of gem albite of the highest brilliant clarity characteristic of the find. Small but elegant, it hangs on the edge of this interesting miniature. This fascinating specimen can be viewed up or down. The flip side shows off the unusually elongated (though chlorite-infused) larger crystal.

Flaring from a stable base of smaller crystals are dramatic tabular, glassy and translucent-transparent albite crystals, to 2.5 cm in length. They are stunning in symmetry - arranged in parallel growth which reinforces a sense of sharp terminations. The back side of the crystals has a light dusting of silvery chlorite which is absent from the front display face. The lustre and "sparkliness" are outstanding and unusual. The piece is a floater, complete all around. This would be a phenomenal albite from anywhere, but in this gem quality is exceedingly rare; and dramatic when combined with geometry as arranged here. One of our favorites in the lot. They do NOT look like feldspar, but more like some freaky-lustrous gem crystals or brilliant topaz.

This cute, sparkly miniature is highlighted by two paralell-growth, glassy and gemmy, colorless, albite crystals to 1.5 cm in length growing between tabular crystals of silver-black hematite, to 1.3 cm across. The lower half of one of the hematite crystals has been contacted (it looks broken, I admit, but i think it is contact where it grew against a new-missing crystal) , and the right edge of the upper hematite crystal is damaged, but the overall beauty of the specimen is still something. A VERY RARE example from the locallity of hematite association (only these illustrated pieces were found, to my knowledge)

Perched on a shard of chlorite matrix is a cluster of glassy and gemmy, colorless crystals of albite, to nearly 2 cm in length. A very attractive miniature , totally characteristic of this unique find!

A large matrix specimen for this pocket, where a combination of chlorite schist and possibly gneiss are the hosts for tabular, glassy and gemmy, colorless, crystals of albite to 2.5 cm across. A few of the albite crystals are also encrusted by silvery gray chlorite crystals. The central protected pocket is extremely dramatic, much mor eso in person, and showcases large, stunning albites that look more like topaz or euclase than a feldspar, at first glance.

Clearly, the black chlorite schist contrasts beautifully with the glassy and gemmy, colorless albite crystals which are aesthetically perched on top of the matrix. The largest crystal measures 2 cm in length, and is also exquisitely twinned . All exhibit pearlescent luster - these are hard to believe as feldspar as opposed to some kind of freaky-lustrous gem crystals or brilliant topaz. This specimen has one crystal with a seemingly old cleavage or contact, but the rest are all there, we think. Simply Wonderful aesthetics and brilliant luster make this dramatic small cab one of the best of the lot. It is a feldspar, that can hold its own in any collection of fancier species, and we believe this to be one of the finest of the lot and an important American mineral specimen.

This is another superbly crystallized matrix specimen where the glassy and gemmy, colorless albite crystals have grown in an aesthetic, jackstraw pattern. The largest crystal, which measures 3.3 cm across, is also doubly terminated. For contrast, a few crystals have a dusting of chlorite on them. This specimen illustrates both the clarity and shocking topaz-like lustre of the feldspars from this find and is breathtakingly beautiful, to say the least! It also is, we feel, a highly important US specimen that holds its own (or surpasses, rather) on a worldwide basis too. This extremely aesthetic small cabinet piece has been carefully trimmed around the periphery to leave it free of damage on all major crystals, which now flare up from a small matrix of enclosed schist underneath.

Covering a thin crust of matrix are a few glassy and gemmy, colorless albite crystals, to 2.2 cm in length.The largest crystal, and at least one other appear to be twinned. This specimen is bright and sparkling, so lustrous you would think it was topaz but for the crystal habit. It is a superb miniature from this unique, small find.

The largest matrix plate recovered from this small pocket: The display side of the specimen is covered with mostly tabular, colorless, albite crystals with pearlescent luster and rich translucence which make this find so shocking. The crystals look mor elike topaz or phenakite, other gem species, than like feldspar! The matrix of this specimen is covered in tiny vesicles filled witjh what appears to be epidote on the underside. The largest of the gemmy and bright albite crystals measures over 4 cm across - huge for this find. And, the plate is literally smothered in them, shooting up to the left and right for a good degree of balance as a whole. Several crystals also appear to be twinned as a bonus. In addition, there are a few tabular, splendent , jet-black crystals of hematite, to 8mm across, nestled down at the base of some of the albite crystals. This makes the specimen one of the 4 in the pocket with this association. Very nice display piece, and an important US feldspar specimen both!

This is certainly one of the world's finest albite specimens! Aside from the importance of the US locale, quality like this is totally unprecedented outside of the traditional Alpine cleft occurrences in Switzerland and Pakistan - and even there seldom has such lustre, let alone the gemminess we see here. This plate of colorless albite crystals contrasts nicely with the underlying black chlorite schist. The crystals are mostly tabular, glassy and gemmy - and twinned. They exhibit a superb sheen and a pearlescent luster. The numerous fine crystals here are highlighted by a 4.5 cm-across twin crystal on the right side, a slightly smaller on on the left; and a central , robust, upright, GEMMY crystal perched right in the middle. The whole plate is of high quality with no obvious damage, and just sparkles like it is made of jewels. It is hard to believe this stuff is feldspar ! I showed this to a number of East Coast museum curators and colectors, prior to this update, and all were simply stunned. Again, aside from the quality, the location of a small quarry in Vermont was a stunner. A few crystals clearly exhibit twinning with obvious re-entrant faces on top of the crystal terminations, but there are several habits on this one specimen. The albites are in great shape overall and when displayed, glow and conduct light throughout the specimen. Truly magnificent - and I will echo what a few more knowledgeable folks than I have said, that this is quite possibly the finest American albite specimen! They do NOT look like feldspar, but more like some freaky-lustrous gem crystals or brilliant topaz.
