7.7 x 5.3 x 3.8 cm. This mine is very well known for it’s Adamite specimens, but some of the most highly sought after specimens of the Cuprian variety of Adamite are found here. This piece features dozens of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, rich blue-green color crystals of Cuprian adamite sitting on Limonite matrix. I’ve photographed some of the crystals under the micro scope to help show how superb the quality truly is. These crystals are very gemmy and lustrous with rich color, especially for the size. These specimens are not nearly as readily available as they once were, and they are truly some of the most significant Adamite specimens extant.
9.8 x 6.4 x 3.4 cm. A plate of gemmy, bright domes of adamite crystals on limonite.
3.4 x 2.5 x 1.3 cm. A RARE, BEAUTIFUL and DESIRABLE specimen of gemmy and lustrous, blush-purple tipped adamite blades in an aesthetic, radiating cluster from the FAMOUS, ONE-TIME find at Mina Ojuela in 1981. Purple adamites from this unique find are truly one of the Holy Grail Mexican minerals, along with scorodite and legrandite.
7.0 x 6.0 x 3.4 cm. This mine is very well known for it's Adamite specimens, but some of the most highly sought after specimens of the Cuprian variety of Adamite are found here. This piece features several sharp, lustrous, gemmy, blue-green color crystals of cuprian adamite sitting on Limonite matrix. The size of the crystals is very good for this material, and they have superb crystal from with an almost wet looking luster. These crystals are translucent, but are the perfect contrast for the orange-brown Limonite matrix.
3.5 x 3.2 x 1.8 cm. A beautiful spray of gemmy and glassy, tan adamite crystals grading upward at the sharp, chisel terminations to light lemon-yellow. This is CLASSIC and excellent material from the famous Ojuela Mine of Mexico. Ex. Ed Swoboda collection.
6.8 x 4.3 x 4.2 cm, 5.3 x 3.2 x 2.2 cm, 4.6 x 2.6 x 1.2 cm. Three specimens of bright green, crystalline adamite on limonite, from the classic locality for these. Two show shiny faces, and the largest one has botryoidal forms with some partial balls that show the radial acicular crystals. All from the Gary Hansen Collection, circa mid-1980s
12.5 x 8.6 x 5.4 cm. LUSTROUS clusters of bright green adamite crystals on the typical matrix of limonite, from the classic locality for these. The partial clusters show how the crystals grow radially to form these beautiful balls. The largest cluster here measures 2.5 cm across. These crystals have really good luster!
4.6 x 2.4 x 1.3 cm. One of the most classic localities for Adamite in the world is the Ojuela mine in Mexico. This material is some of the most beautiful and classic material for the species. This particular specimen features several fantastic, bright, lustrous, yellow-green crystallized "pinwheel"-shaped aggregates plus plenty more individual wedge shaped crystals of Adamite on Limonite matrix. This is a great miniature size specimen, and very aesthetic I think. This material is no longer being mined and will go down as some of the finest quality and color Adamite in history.
5.8 x 4.6 x 3.2 cm. An excellent and very showy specimen of LARGE, to 3.4 cm, lustrous, doubly terminated, pastel-green adamite crystals aesthetically set in a vug on gossan matrix from the famous Mina Ojuela of Mexico. The large adamite has sharp, chisel terminations. These are BIG adamite crystals, rarely seen in this size and quality and this piece comes from the Ed Swoboda Collection.
5.5 x 4.0 x 3.2 cm. Purple adamite is one of the three Holy Grail species from Mina Ojuela, along with legrandite and scorodite. This BEAUTIFUL and EXCELLENT specimen has a vug RICHLY lined with sparkly, purple adamite crystals to 3 mm in limonite matrix. This piece is from the one-time find in 1981 and is highly representative of this very desirable species. Ex. George Elling Collection.
3.4 x 3.2 x 1.2 cm. A complete whorl of adamite crystals.
9.9 x 8.4 x 2.4 cm. An unusual, melty-looking specimen of adamite from Mina Ojuela! It is on the typical limonite matrix, but the adamite itself looks as though it in the process of melting! It has pretty color and fine shimmering luster.
4.7 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm. Purple adamite is one of the three Holy Grail species from Mina Ojuela, along with legrandite and scorodite. This showy and cute miniature features a 8 mm wide, sparkly, broccoli head of purple adamite crystals on a stalk of yellow-brown adamite. The adamite is aesthetically set in a vug atop a wedge-shaped limonite matrix. This piece is from the one-time find in 1981 and is highly representative of this very desirable species. Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.5 x 3.8 x 3.3 cm. The terminations of the thick layer of bright yellow-green, lustrous crystals on the limonite form a backdrop for three clusters that have grown on top of this earlier generation, splayed out on their sides to show the radial structure of the crystals.
2.8 x 2.4 x 1.9 cm. Yet another Mapimi adamite, this one of the most familiar form: a complete cluster or "wheel" of yellow-green crystals, perfectly perched on a small base of limonite matrix. Cute thumber!
