4.2 x 2.4 x 1.8 cm. An aesthetic column of intergrown clusters of very sparkly, translucent, sea-green, bladed botryoids of cuprian adamite from the Mina Ojuela of Mexico. The clusters sit nicely on a bit of contrasting gossan matrix and remind me of stylized, shrub sculpture. Classic, older material from this renowned locale. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
6 x 5.9 x 3.7 cm. A single isolated, fat pinwheel of adamite, just over 1 cm, on contrasting limonitic matrix. Rare locality specimen, self-collected by Bart Cannon in the 1960s or 1970s. Ex. John White Collection.
3.2 x 2.2 x 2 cm. The purple Manganoan Adamites from this mid-1980s find have become the stuff of legend – rare, beautiful, and highly desired. The classic Adamite crystals are long tapered prisms with a chisel termination. These crystals, which have a fabulous glassy luster accenting the light purple color, tend to be shorter and broader than any I have seen. The largest of the crystals is 1.3 cm long and an amazing 1.2 cm wide at the termination. The other crystals are similarly broad at the top, creating almost a splaying fan for each individual crystal. Combine this with the gemmy deeper-purple tips, and you have a specimen that is nothing short of spectacular for the size. Ex. Wendell E. Wilson Collection.
Lustrous and translucent blue-green cuproadamite crystals to 1.0 cm on a beautifully contrasting limonite matrix. Over one-half of the iron oxide matrix is very sparkly, which is caused by micro blue cuproadamite crystals! 4.4 x 3.8 x 1.5 cm
26 x 4 x 4 cm. A very unique and large adamite specimen, like a giant snake of glistening, sugary green crystals. It is nearly a foot long, and except for minor contacts with matrix you can see, pristine. This specimen from the Dr Miguel Romero collection was on loan exhibition to the University of Arizona Museum for over a decade, until my purchase of this collection in 2008. It was on display in special cases at the museum, and has since been featured in the book "The Miguel Romero Collection of Mexico Minerals" which we sponsored as a special supplement book (published by the Mineralogical Record in December of 2008).
10 x 6 x 5 cm. A very attractive adamite in the most classic style, of ball-like aggregates in a crevasse of limonite gossan matrix. Excellent luster.
8.5 x 6.25 x 4.5 cm. While there have been thousands of adamites, seldom do you get such aesthetics, such balance, combined with the ultimate in glassy lustre and translucent yellow-green color-saturation. This piece has long been held as the "model" for what a superb adamite of this habit (so-called "green pinwheels") should look like, and was a signature piece of the collection. It’s striking color and lustre is not well-captured in the photo, and it is much more intense in person. Once a core specimen on display in both his museum, and later for a decade in the University of Arizona Mineral Museum on loan from the Romero family. Featured in the book on Romero's collection, on page 32. Jeff Scovil photo. Ex. Dr. Miguel Romero Collection.
6.5 x 5.6 x 1.8 cm. Waxy lustre, translucent, pastel-green adamite spindles richly and aesthetically cover the sturdy, contrasting, gossan matrix plate on this fine specimen from the Mina Ojuela of Mexico. The spindle form of these adamite crystals is very uncommon for Ojuela, as most adamites have chisel terminations. Classic, uncommon material from the Consie Prince Collection.
8.3 x 7.2 x 5.0 cm. Sparkly, glassy clusters of lustrous, pastel-green adamite prisms richly fill a bowl-like vug in sculptural, sturdy gossan matrix on this fine, old-time specimen from the Mina Ojuela. Additional adamite crystal clusters are scattered on the sides, adding character. Classic, older material from the 1960s or early 1970s from the Mullane Collection.
7.7 x 5.7 x 4.5 cm. This excellent and beautiful specimen features two interesting, adjacent vugs filled with glassy, purple adamite crystals to 6 mm in a sculptural, sturdy, gossan matrix. This piece is from the one-time find in 1981 and is highly representative for this very desirable manganoan-adamite varietal (erroneously once though to be cobaltoan). Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
An excellent plate of lustrous, botryoidal lime-green adamite on a thin crust of limonite matrix. Ex Dr. Gary Hansen. 4.9 x 4.7 x 1.3 cm
10.7 x 7.0 x 4.2 cm. Scintillating, gemmy, emerald-green cuprian adamite botryoids richly line numerous vugs in the cabinet box-work gossan matrix on this fine specimen from the famous and ancient deposits of Laurium, Greece. Classic, desirable material. Large sized specimen.
5.1 x 2.8 x 1.8 cm. Sparkling, gemmy and lustrous, gorgeous, emerald-green cuprian adamite botryoids richly line the curved vug in sturdy gossan matrix on this outstanding specimen from the Mina Ojuela. The color is top-notch and so is the lustre. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
12.0 x 7.5 x 4.5 cm. A classic and excellent cabinet adamite specimen from the Mina Ojuela. The sculptural and sturdy gossan matrix is festooned with superb pinwheels of gemmy, highly lustrous, prismatic, yellow-green adamite crystals. The largest pinwheel is 1.5 cm across. Very highly representative of this historic locale. Ex. Robert Fender Collection and dates to the 1960s and 1970s. Outstanding greenish-yellow fluorescence.
4.7 x 4.4 x 2.4 cm. The famous Mina Ojuela has done it again with a small new find of very pretty apple-green, sharp, gemmy and lustrous cuprian adamite crystals aesthetically clustered in a vug in sculptural, sturdy gossan matrix. The crystals reach 1.0 cm. The crystal quality on this particular piece is very high. A beautiful and striking example from this new find.
