6.6 x 3.9 x 2.1 cm. A superb, rare locality specimen with a valid old label clearly showing this is from ANNABERG and not the more commonly seen Freiberg district. Sharp crystals of calcite decorate and accent this solid cluster of 100% crystallized acanthite. Probably from the early to mid 1800s, this is a very rare locality specimen.

3.9 x 3.6 x 3.3 cm. A fine and rich silver ore combination specimen from the famous Rayas Mine at Guanajuato, Mexico. Sparkly, golden-yellow bright chalcopyrite microcrystals cover matrix of essentially solid, bladed polybasite. The polybasite blades poking through the chalcopyrite are iridescent and the whole piece is nicely accented by a couple of sharp, gray acanthite crystals. Ex. Dave Stoudt Collection.

4.5 x 3.3 x 3.0 cm. A fine, rich silver ore specimen from an unknown mine in the Potosi Department, Bolivia. The specimen is solid, hackly, sponge-like silver with some quartz and a scattering of black acanthite. A handwritten note on the back of the label states that the piece was purchased in Denver, Colorado in 1968 (by previous owner). Ex. George Elling Collection.

The taller, skyscraper-like piece consists of sharp, metallic, moderate-lustre acanthite crystals. The second piece is a 3-dimensional cluster of lustrous, blocky pyrargyrite crystals.

Thumbnail. The parallel-growth silver crystals on this thumbnail of wire silver with acanthite from the mines of Kongsberg, Norway, remind me of a very weathered, hand hewn, wooden plank or board in a fence. The scattered calcite on the "plank" is a nice accent. Ex. Irv Brown Collection.

3.8 x 3.3 x 2.8 cm. An incredibly rich and fine, old silver ore specimen from the mines at Guanajuato, Mexico. This excellent, two-sided specimen features a multitude of beautifully burnished, aesthetically placed on the crest, curved and curled silver wires and silver ropes on a matrix of lustrous, crudely crystallized, solid acanthite. A bonus is olive-green chlorargyrite (close-up) hidden in tiny crevasses on both sides. Old material, mined circa 1930, according to the Jean Behier Collection label. Weighs 54 grams.

4.6 x 3.3 x 3.1 cm. A complete floater clustered around a pagoda-like 3-cm-tall central crystal, with no visible point of attachment, this specimen of acanthite after argentite is just incredible. It has excellent lustre. Most of the octahedral, splendent, dark gray crystals, to 1.25 cm in length, have grown on top of each other, making the specimen look very much like a cityscape of Chinese pagodas or of South African hausmannite which you could easily mistake this for.

8.3 x 5.2 x 3.4 cm. This specimen is a complete floater with no visible point of attachment. The acanthite after argentite crystals are octahedral in form, elegantly elongated to over 3 cm in length. They have splendent luster and a dark jet black color, with individual crystals reaching 3 cm in length. Most of the crystals have grown on top of each other and the overall appearance is that of a city of Chinese pagodas or even South African hausmannite specimens.

6.0 x 3.8 x 2.4 cm. This specimen of octahedral, splendent, jet-black acanthite after argentite has individual elongated octahedral crystals to 3.5 cm in length shooting from a central cluster. The overall effect is that of a Chinese pagoda, with most of the crystals on top of each other. This new find has excellent lustre. It is nearly a complete floater with no visible point of attachment, with only a small rough area near the base; which as a bonus, is a vug at the lower right edge filled with a druse of cherry red proustite. Complete all around.
