4.0 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm. An outstanding acanthite miniature from the La Sirena Mine (590 Level) at Guanajuato. Lustrous, battleship-gray, blocky to extremely elongated, cubic acanthite crystals comprise this striking, arborescent crystal cluster. A pristine, complete-all-around acanthite from Guanajuato. Even the mine level is known. Classic material. The back of the piece looks like a cluster of feathers.
12.4 x 7.8 x 5.3 cm. A dramatic, sculptural cabinet specimen covered with gorgeous and thick nests of brightly burnished, curled and curved silver wires set on a knobby matrix of solid, crudely crystallized acanthite from a recent find at the Imiter Mine of Morocco. The silver wires in the multitude of nests are a marvel to behold. Weighs 546 grams or 1.2 pounds.
As the fact that the piece has been so frequently illustrated attests to, it is super-fine. The sharpness and size of these crystals, combined with phenomenal lustre, make it one of the best miniatures for the species and locality. Hands down. It was a personal gift from Dr. Miguel Romero, the noted Mexican collector, to Fred Pough. It was later sold by Pough, after Romero passed away, to California dealer Cal Graeber who resold it to collector Irv Brown in the 1990's. It is the only piece I have ever seen for sale with an actual label from Romero, in his hand (written on the back of his business card in black ink, with Spanish spellings of the species and locality). 3 x 2.75 x 1.8 cm
A killer acanthite thumbnail, with incredibly ornate and sharp crystal structure. Better in person! 2.5 x 2.1 x 1.2 cm
Sharp and lustrous, these stacked Acanthite crystals make for a exemplary thumbnail. The crystals are so sharp and lustrous you at first think they are galena! the largest is to 1.2 cm 1.9 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm
A nicely-crystallized specimen of the rare (in aesthetic specimens) silver sulfide argentite, with a pretty branching form, and some matrix still attached that looks almost like snow on the branches. 2.6 x 1.6 x .5 cm
This is a fine thumbnail specimen of the rare silver mineral argentite, showing VERY finely-formed crystals! A floater cluster. 1.8 x 1.3 x .8 cm
An aesthetic example of acanthite from the major Moroccan find shown at this years St. Marie Show in France (2005). The piece consists of pagoda-like clusters of medium lustre, etched and sometimes hoppered, octohedral acanthite crystals. 3.4 x 2.1 x 1.5 cm.
A superb pair of Acanthite crystals from one of the world’s great Silver localities. For size, luster, and sharpness, these are way above the norm, making this a truly outstanding specimen. 3-dimensional! 2.2 x 2 x .8 cm
An EXCELLENT and AESTHETIC toenail of acanthite from the MAJOR MOROCCAN find shown at this years St. Marie Show in France. The piece consists of medium lustre, etched, octohedral acanthite crystals to 1.0 cm. These acanthites come from the Imiter Mine in the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Seasoned European collectors liken these pieces to classic Freiberg acanthite, which were never common. Many collectors and dealers expect these to become an instant classic. 3.1 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm
An exquisite acanthite thumber, completely crystallized, with two crystals growing up off a “base” stalk. They don’t get much more aesthetic than this. A fullsized thumbnail. 2.4 x 1.8 x 0.6 cm
A finely-formed skeletal crystal of the silver mineral acanthite, very desirable in good crystals. 2.3 x 1.0 x 0.9cm
Sharp, and very aesthetic, cluster of Argentite crystals after Stephanite. The largest crystal is about 1.8 cm, and all have an excellent luster. Better yet, the pseudos have retained the crystal edges and faces very nicely. A superb thumb, and much better in person. 2.4 x 1.8 x 1.1 cm
Rich cluster of solid wires around a core of acanthite-covered thicker wires of silver. this one is actually much nicer in person. 2.5 x 2 x 1.1 cm
A fine, lustrous silvery-grey dodecahedron of Acanthite on Calcite matrix. This specimen is from a find from about 3 years ago. A nice large thumbnail for the locality. 3.0 x 2.8 x 2.6cm
