Pyrolusite from New Mexico

NEW SPECIMENS ADDED!

My posted specimens represent about half the pocket from a surprising new find at a rediscovered old locality, somewhere in Dona Ana County , New Mexico (details to follow later this year). Now, pyrolusite is not on most people's hit list for beautiful crystallized mineral species. However, as reported in the current issue of Mineralogical Record's show report, these really leap out at you, in person. These specimens are composed of shimmering, almost silky, bundles of crystals with a high lustre....black minerals that reflect light rather than suck it in. All of these specimens were chosen for their top "silky" lustre, condition, and beauty. They are all good, mostly of the same overall quality, just differing in sizes and shape.
