A stunning termination that is unusually equant and sharply chiselled caps this gem crystal. It has the highest internal brightness and lustre, and is complete all around save for a small patch of roughness on teh lower-right-edge. The kille rtermination makes up for that, though.

tz04 - Imperial Topaz - $950
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
miniature, 4.2 x 1.1 x 1.0 cm

This unusual reddish-orange 10-gram crystal came out from the same area of gem gravel pits at the same time as the purples here, though obviously did not form in the same pocket. It is "almost normal" in that it is orange, but with an overtone of red and in some lights of maroon color that make it stand out from the typical orange imperial topaz we are used to seeing.

tz05 - Purple Imperial Topaz - $175 SOLD
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail, 2.2 x 0.9 x 0.7 cm

A deeply purple crystal with an odd , frankly bizarre-looking, stepped termination which is actually due to a small sidecar crystal which formed on th backside and continues its growth past the termination of the main crystal . Very cute!

At 7-grams-plus, this is one of the bigger , taller, AND heftier crystals of the pocket and frankly out of all I have seen of this material from 3 the major pockets found since the mid-1980s. I am sure there were more, but I have not seen them hit the specimen market , except for these 3 batches over time. Because of the size of this piece, it really stands out from a crowd both for the height and the color intensity - which is volumetric, stronger purple with more depth of view through the crystal. The piece is really transparent, more so in person than it appears here, and sparkles with life. It is complete and, except for two miniscule nicks, pristine.

tz07 - Purple Imperial Topaz - $150 SOLD
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail, 1.9 x 0.9 x 0.7 cm

Goregous, sharp, complete thumbnail with super color!

tz08 - Purple Imperial Topaz - $250 SOLD
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail, 2.2 x 1.0 x 0.7 cm

A robust crystal with exceptional transparency and color, a steep, sharp termination, and great gemminess. There is a minor bit of wear to teh right edge which is accentuated in the photos, perhaps more than it shows in real life, due to teh angle of the shots. Hence, teh low price - otherwise a $600-740 piece

tz09 - Purple Imperial Topaz - $850 SOLD
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail, 2.8 x 0.8 x 0.6 cm

A stunning, elongated crystal of nearly 4 grams, with super gemminess and brightness to it. The termination is steeply tapered. The piece is complete all around except for the tiniest of dings, really small(!), on the back of the termination

tz10 - Purple Imperial Topaz - $95 SOLD
Ouro Prieto, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail, 2.7 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm

An unusual crystal with a pale lavender-orange mixed hue, not orange but not purple either. Totally gem!
