These are selections from a new find of really diverse , sharp phantomed fluorites from this classic locality which has been producing fluorite for some 30 years now. However, the phantoms and patterns in these recent batches are really wildly different than previous finds.
OKOFLU-01 - Fluorite - $900 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia large cabinet, 18.0 x 16.2 x 3.6 cm
This really colorful, large, plate of intergrown fluorite features crystals exhibiting stepped growth, with super gemminess and good luster. The crystals generally have emerald green cores and purple edges. Crystals reach 5 cm (2 inches) across and the whole specimen is almost pristine, with only a few cleaves at the edges/periphery. The specimen also appears to be totally crystallized on the back side with microcrystallized faces, almost curving in upon themselves, forming a curvy backside. The entire plate is translucent to transparent and the photos here show only moderate, not strong, backlighting. In stronger backlihgting, it glows and all details of the complex steppe growth pop out at you!
OKOFLU-02 - Fluorite - $1500 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia large cabinet, 17.2 x 9.4 x 2.7 cm
Okorusu has been well known for its emerald green fluorites. So it has surprised most of us now with these new, rich, purple-cored fluorites. This plate of intergrown fluorite, has crystals reaching 2.1 cm across. Oddly, the crystals have opaque, purple cores which are not in the symmetrical plane of the larger crystal growth. The sharp phantoms are cubic, and are 45 degrees rotated from the peripheral edge symmetry. All the crystals have lighter lavender colored edges which are very translucent. Overall, the effect is striking and looks more like modern art than a mineral specimen. The core is dark because of thickness of the fluorite, and matrix under them. The flanges of this piece, all around, are exceptionally colorful and draw the eye outwards.
OKOFLU-03 - Fluorite - $500 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia cabinet, 13.6 x 11.6 x 2.7 cm
This plate of intergrown fluorite exhibits rich emerald green color along with lavender color zoning, caused by internal phantoms. Crystals reach 2.3 cm across and most of the crystal corners are colorless. Good luster and translucence ,and lack of damage, also highlight this specimen from the crowd.
OKOFLU-04 - Fluorite - $750 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia cabinet, 12.5 x 10.7 x 2.4 cm
Lustrous and translucent, this intergrown fluorite plate exhibits stepped growth and rich, emerald-green color which is perhaps better in person. Crystal growth reaches 5.3 cm across. Oddly, one or two specks of rich lavender color emanate from deep in crystal cores. Most of the cores though, are a darker green phtnaom growth, offset at 45 degrees to the larger crystal in which they reside just as with the odd purple phantoms above. VERY MUCH better in person!
OKOFLU-05 - Fluorite - $1750 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia small cabinet, 9.6 x 9.3 x 6.3 cm
Large, blocky, cubes of fluorite, with stepped growth on the corners, exhibit a rich emerald green color at their cores and a lavender color at the corners. The crystals reach 5 cm or 2 inches across and are robust - VERY unusual in both respects, for this locality! The complexly stepped edges of the largest top and frontal cubes show wondderful coplexity, highlighted by a purple color. Super translucence and good luster along with excellent crystal form make this specimen a dramatic piece that shows vrey good in a case.

OKOFLU-08 - Fluorite - $750 Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia miniature, 4.2 x 3.8 x 1.3 cm
Not only is this translucent fluorite specimen strangely color zoned, most of the darker lavender core is oriented in a direction 45 degrees offset to the plane of the crystal, making a stark contrast of both color and form within the same crystal! Really bizarre, this is one of the most riveting fluorite miniatures I have seen for the locality, or for anywhere for that matter.
OKOFLU-09 - Fluorite - $450 Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia small cabinet, 7.3 x 6.0 x 1.4 cm

The internal phantoms are oriented in a direction 45 degrees from the plane of crystal growth around them. Crystals reach 1.8 cm across. very lustrous, and much more attractive in person! The photos here are with only moderate lighting. In strong backlighting, these crystals "pop" out at you.

Good luster and translucence and a rich lavender color is augmented by colorless areas and opaque lavender cores which are oriented 45 degrees to the plane of crystal growth. SHARP phantoms, better in preson. There are a few very minor dings on some crystal edges. The photos here are with only moderate lighting. In strong backlighting, these crystals "pop" out at you.
OKOFLU-12 - Fluorite - $350 SOLD Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia cabinet, 12.2 x 6.4 x 1.9 cm
An overall color of rich lavender, along with good luster and exceptional transparency highlights this plate of intergrown fluorite. Crystals reach 1.0 cm across and many have darker, opaque color centers not oriented in the plane of crystal growth but rather offset at 45 degrees, producing a stark contrast in form and color both. The back of the plate seems microcrystallized all around. The photos here are with only moderate lighting. In strong backlighting, these crystals "pop" out at you even more.
