Garnet or chalcopyrite?! This large, fine crystal of chalcopyrite is a complete floater, with no visible points of attachment. It is highly lustrous with a dark brassy yellow color, and the faces emit a chatoyant effect. This crystal is so sharp and equant, it LOOKS like a golden garnet, at first glance, spray painted with glitter. It has luster, form, balance... and I was shocked to see it came out of this mine. Amazing specimen from modern finds here, brought out to market by the Spanish dealer Luis Burillo a few years ago. It is a floater and undamaged save only for two tiny rubs on what I regard as the backside.
