Tourmaline clusters from the Pederneira are at their best when you can see these gorgeous and colorful gem pencils practically leaping off from contrasting, sparkly matrix. The matrix of white cleavelandite crystals provides the perfect contrast to the gemmy green-blue crystals that shoot out to all sides, giving the specimen a remarkable 3-dimensional look. It is actually equally good all around, and displays from any side! A good nickname for this specimen might be "The Pincushion" but that doesn't convey the color. There is no evident damage, although there are some very clean and perfectly done lock-fit repairs to the tourmalines (as with nearly all large matrix tourmalines from this mine). The balance, and volume of this piece, combined with the color contrasts, makes it one of the more dramatic examples we have seen for sale in recent years although it is an older piece now. This particular piece would be from the heyday here in the mid-2000's (perhaps around 2005-2007). Such specimens have not been found since, in this same style. Price on Request.
