Apophyllite on Stilbite
Savada, Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India
Small Cabinet, 8.7 x 8.5 x 6.5 cm
SOLD
This is a JEWEL of an apophyllite crystal, stunning for its clarity, rich mint color, and luster. We have all seen thousands of Indian apophyllites, yet this recent pocket (late 2016) will, I think, be remembered as among the best. Emplaced on weathered basalt are lustrous and translucent, flesh colored crystals of stilbite to 6 cm in length - many also happen to be doubly terminated. Nestled amongst the stilbite crystals is a single, glassy and gemmy, limpid, fluorapophyllite crystal measuring 4.6 cm in length with a glorious medium green color. It shoots straight up, with no damage nor repairs. Amidst a crowd, this is an exceptional specimen.
