Smithsonite var. Cadmian
Philadelphia Mine, Rush, Marion County, Arkansas, USA

After seeing so many, this has to be one of the finest examples of smithsonite "turkey fat ore" extant from the zinc deposits of northern Arkansas. This specimen, on a limestone matrix, features botryoidal aggregates to 1 cm across, of lustrous and translucent, bright yellow smithsonite. The combination of large spheres, luster, good shape, and translucence along with outstanding color, places this piece in the WOW category for what it is - a USA rarity, in any case!
