Unusually dramatic, this sculptural cluster of translucent quartz and fluorite is very different from others. A colorless, drusy quartz overgrowth has floated two, glassy and gemmy, light emerald green fluorite octahedrons, to 4 cm in length. It is easy to discern the outline of other fluorite crystals under the layer of drusy quartz, giving this piece an ethereal look. The specimen is thin (a contact plate which grew as a coating on a wall of rock), and so light really comes through and it is among the most translucent such specimens we have seen - very aesthetic in a case! The fluorite crystals have a rich purple color under fluorescent light.
