A Madagascan rarity! I understand that most of this was cut, when found, to make iridescent blue garnet gems. Extremely unusual, this lustrous and somewhat gemmy garnet crystal exhibits a lovely violet color. The faces and edges are somewhat water worn, indicative of an alluvial environment. These are very rarely on the market, and I obtained it in a larger lot of minerals many years ago and have no others (nor have had, since).
