These Datolites are amazingly gemmy, which is not typical for the species and makes this miniature stand out for quality amongst a crowd of more opaque and dull examples from Russia and other localities. These actually were only found a few times over decades, here, in such quality. They are a pretty light blue, and look just like cut and polished ice. Datolites are more commonly equidimensional, so these complex tabular crystals, up to 2.7 cm and highly lustrous, are very attractive and unusual. Likely from the 1980s finds at this famous locality, and seldom seen with such quality in color, luster, and gemminess, and habit. Better in person!
