Matrix cafarsites from the Piedmont region of Italy, near the Swiss border, are fine examples of this rare alpine mineral. Cafarsite is a rare, complex, hydrated calcium manganese iron titanium arsenite. This handsome piece hosts reddish-brown, lustrous octahedrons with cube modifications on gneissic matrix. The large crystal measures 1.2cm across; the other crystals are between 2 and 5mm. Mt. Cervandone is the type locality for the species. An excellent specimen! Ex. Luca De Battisti collection with label.
