Fluorite and Calcite
Denton Mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
Cabinet, 15.2 x 9.5 x 5.2 cm
SOLD
An unusual piece: at some point in its history this intergrown plate of lustrous and translucent, deep purple colored fluorite crystals, to 3 cm across, became detached from the pocket wall it originally formed on. It was later covered totally on one side by lustrous and translucent, light amber colored calcite crystals, to 1 cm in length, some of which are doubly terminated. A truly nice combo specimen, it is now a "floater," complete all around. Dark color, but this is considered purple rather than "too dark."
