Fluorite With Chalcopyrite Inclusions
Denton Mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
Cabinet, 9.8 x 8.8 x 5.8 cm
SOLD
This dramatic fluorite specimen, with crystals to 5.5 cm across, exhibits stepped growth along with amazing color-zoning. The crystal cores are a light honey-yellow and the terminations exhibit a lovely lavender color. The fluorite is super-sharp and geometric, and contrasts with itself in several ways (color and depth). But what really makes this piece something special are 2-3-mm, brassy yellow chalcopyrite crystals which are emplaced mostly on the stepped growth faces of the fluorite crystals, and sometimes included within! This specimen really jumps out from others. It has "pizzazz."
