Magnesioaxinite

Small Cabinet, 6.6 x 3.3 x 1.6 cm

An aesthetic, tabular, glassy and partly gemmy crystal of light pink Magnesioaxinite measuring 6.2 cm in length is partially wreathed at the base by white calcite. Interestingly, the large crystal is in parallel growth with smaller prehnite (?) crystals behind. This is an extremely aesthetic specimen of a very rare species, and it is so unusual in its shape and color, that most people would not guess what it is. From a small find in 2013, this crystal, unusually not just a single partial or fragment, is one of my favorites yet seen for this species.
