Aesthetically perched on a sliver of matrix is a botryoidal crust of lustrous and translucent, rich, sky blue smithsonite for which the Kelly Mine is justly famous. The largest botryoid measures slightly more than 2.5 cm across. Classic old style color and thick mineralization make this a desirable, valuable piece of rough material for carving, as well.
