Azurite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm
SOLD
Large 'spear-point' of solid Azurite from Tsumeb. This imposing crystal has a rich, silky luster and uniform, deep blue color. There is some etching at each termination, as well as a small amount on a few of the prism faces. In one place, the outer layer of the crystal has been removed. Nevertheless, Azurite crystals this size (7 cm) are seldom to be found, and it is attractive. This is a classic style, and a very robust piece in great condition. Even with the flood of recent Mexican azurites, there are not crystals with this kind of stark shape so classic for Tsumeb.
