Calcite (Twinned)
Sambava, Antsiranana, Madagascar
Small Cabinet, 6.9 x 5.5 x 5.2 cm
SOLD
These starkly dramatic twinned calcites came out of a remote mine in Madagascar in the early 2000's. People went crazy for them when they first premiered at the Munich show (2004?) at the booths of Laurent Thomas and of Emanuelle Marini. They really are distinctly different in form from calcite from anywhere else that I have seen in this quality. This piece has a superbly balanced twinned crystal perched on just the right amount of matrix. It is complete all around, except for minor contacting at the base. It is perhaps the best piece in this size range I have seen turn back up on the market recently. Joe Budd photos.
