Caledonite Ps. After Galena
Reward Mine, Inyo County, California, USA
Toenail, 3.1 x 2.7 x 2.0 cm
SOLD
This fascinating specimen features the rare replacement of galena by the very rare and beautiful hydrated lead copper carbonate sulfate, caledonite. Lustrous, deep sky-blue crystals of caledonite, to 1mm, across have almost totally replaced the underlying galena cube (you can still see the shape clearly in person). This was collected by Rick Kennedy, in 2011.
