Smithsonite var. Cobaltoan
Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Miniature, 4.6 x 3.9 x 3.7 cm
Ex. Ken Rippere
SOLD

Extremely sharp crystals of classic soft pink smithsonite like this can only be from Tsumeb and were found in the late 1960s and in the 1970s. This is a sharp hedgehog knob of translucent crystals to 1.5 cm, very displayable all around. The quality is high because of the shape, condition, deep color, and unusual translucency of these large crystals. This is an important miniature for the varietal, much better than most similar (in person, you can see a stronger color saturation than commonly seen on cobaltoan pink smithsonites although that is hard to judge from photos). It is from the Ken Rippere collection and competitive level for the size class.
