A SHARP, beautiful vivid pink-red, elongated disc-shaped Rhodochrosite crystal from this small find in Wuzhou, China, accented by white Baryte crystals. The large Rhodochrosite crystal is unusual in form compared to many worldwide Rhodo localities where you may see this bladed habit, but not in such sizeable crystals. The elongated Rhodochrosite disc is translucent through the body of the crystal and transparent around its edges for wonderful effect! To add to its aesthetics the faces shimmer due to all of the subtle, parallel, rhombohedral growth features on the faces. One side of the crystal has a pinkish area that is adorned with a scintillating druse of 1 mm rhombs of Rhodochrosite along with a few white, zoned Baryte crystals with the largest at 1.5 cm in length. There is also a large swath of pink on the back also embellished with tiny pink Rhodo rhombs along with seven additional small Baryte crystals. This is a particularly fine example for this locality (found circa 2007) because of the size, rich pink-red color, overall form, completeness all around and Baryte association.
