from the MARTIN LEWADNY COLLECTION

A fine, richly crystallized cluster of scintillating, "ruby silver" Proustite crystals from the famous Erzgebirge of Saxony, Germany. The gemmy, cherry-red color is aptly called "ruby silver". When backlit the piece shows a super, cherry-red color saturation and gemminess. The central crystal is about 1 cm in length, blocky, with excellent luster and the famous Proustite striations. Across the top, the gemmy, bladed crystal is about 7 mm long. A terrific, quality thumbnail. Ex. Georg Gebhard collection.

A Superb, 1.2 cm-tall Emerald sitting perfectly on dark matrix with minor calcite. This incredible Emerald is GEM-clear, lustrous, and has the absolute best deep emerald color that you could ask for. It is a depth and color saturation you rarely see on an emerald. Although small , perhaps to some, it has a huge impact visually and is overall a full thumbnail, balanced and with a "center" to it that draws the eye. The compex termination is also quite stunning. A killer, even better in real life - it just GLOWS, for lack of a better word to describe it. It is one of the finest thumbnail emeralds I have seen. Not the biggest, but just a stunning "jewel"

Highly lustrous, sharp, midnight blue crystals of Azurite from this world famous and historic copper mine, now long defunct. The tabular crystals have excellent form, and the largest is 1.8 cm end to end. Excellent blue fire with the right light make sit stand out. This is a very rare habit, and quality, for Chessy! ex. Gene Meieran collection this is a near-floater cluster with only a small contact in back.

A shocking, large, First-class cluster of GEMMY, intergrown Smithsonite crystals from the long defunct Broken Hill Mine in Zambia. The luster is excellent. The Smithsonites are clear, well-defined, and average 1.4 cm across. THEY ARE GEMMY AND TRANSPARENT! WHEN YOU LOOK AT FIRST, YOU THINK THIS MUST BE A CALCITE, IT IS SO BRIGHT AND CLEAN INSIDE! The terminations are sharp, and it is much better in person. Quite unusual for the locality, it is a significant specimen Ex. Stan Korowski collection (he was a mine geologist here in the 1960s and 1970s).

Choice, complete pinwheel of the beautiful yellow Adamite from the famous Ojuela mine in Mexico, sitting perfectly on matrix. The gemmy crystals in this radial growth have excellent luster and color, and the pinwheel itself is 1.4 cm across. Excellent bright yellow fluorescence. Distinct and aesthetic thumbnail specimen , and vintage oldstyle material from the 1970s-1980s

A sharp, lustrous, deep green Uvarovite garnet crystal with excellent emerald-green color from the famous Outokumpu Mine of Finland. The sharp, 1.2 cm crystal has textbook dodecahedral form and is in remarkably good condition. Uvarovite is the calcium chromium garnet group end member. This is a classic specimen from a premier locality, with a relatively large crystal. It makes for a very aesthetic thumbnail

Quality Smithsonite crystals are hard enough to come by, and they are particularly uncommon from Zambia, so this excellent piece deserves accolades- it is exquisite! This superb cluster is composed of four major, individual crystals, as well as several smaller ones. Several are doubly-terminated, and the largest is an impressive 2 cm long. Each complex crystal is gemmy, with a silky luster that causes the crystals to almost glow under good light. Additionally, the crystals have wide, modified stepped faces with a small amount of rotation that increase the interest and appeal mineralogically. Just a wonderful thumbnail. Ex. Stan Korowski collection (he was an exploration geologist in Zambia in the 1950s-1960s).

Superb pair of doubly-terminated, very lustrous Amethyst crystals from the famous locality of Thunder Bay. Each crystal is 2.5 cm in length. What is so rare about these, in addition to the unusual red coloration due to included Hematite, is tha fact that these Amethysts are doubly-terminated. In fact, both are DT'd, and virtually pristine. One of the most aesthetic specimens I have seen from Thunder Bay in any size

Choice cluster of superbly-lustrous, deep-blue Azurite crystals from the world-famous Tsumeb Mine. Each mirror-like crystal has an excellent termination, and they sit wonderfully on the matrix. The largest of the crystals is 1.7 cm tall. Impressive and aesthetic - rarely can you find such a fine balance in a MATRIX thumbnail specimen of azurite from Tsumeb.

A small, well-formed ball of twinned crystals of Selenite, with one super-gemmy 1.6 cm twinned crystal growing prominently out from the ball. This color, and this gemminess, is quite unusual. The Selenites formed in the clay beds of the Red River Floodway near Winnipeg, as floater balls of crystals. Under UV light, this beautiful Selenite crystal fluoresces green. In addition, it phosphoresces after the UV light is turned off. Sharp, beautiful, and aesthetic. The only such kille rexample I have seen in a TN sized specimen

This lustrous, gemmy, and red 1.5 cm Rhodochrosite is simply exquisite. As good as the pics are, it is even better in person. A killer thumbnail rhodochrosite from Mexico, where such are very uncommon! This would be old material, probably 1960s vintage. Well-trimmed to make it a superb , balanced, thumbnail specimen

A remarkable, sharp, isolated Hackmanite (Sodalite) crystal, the quality of which I have not often seen. It is actually complete all around, nicely perched and exposed so the backside is revealed as well. The light lavender-colored crystal is 1.3 cm across, gemmy to translucent, very lustrous, and sharp. This well formed dodecahedron has beveled edges which add greatly to the interest, as does a lovely rose fluorescence. An excellent thumbnail example.

The Society Girl Mine is the most famous, and finest, of the uncommon Canadian Pyromorphite localities. On top of that, matrix specimens themselves are rare and highly-sought after. This excellent example has well-shaped green crystals up to 4 mm, and they cover the matrix in abundance. Quite sparkling and of a unique color.
