ex. Charlie Key
A stunning specimen with unusual contrast in that this top quality, gemy, glassy aqua cluster is perched smack dab in the middle of jet black schorl, rather than just associated with it as is normally the case. Out of thousands of Erongo pieces i have seen, i cannot recall another with quite such aspect. The contrast enhances the blue hue and also makes the aqua look like a jewel set in the rock, enhancing the damatic effect of the piece as a whole.

Great combination piece with several aquas perched amidst a cluster of smoky quartz! The larger aqua is 2.5 cm and has a sceptred termination pointing front. The smaller aqua is about 2 cm and features a stunning, gemmy, sharply bevelled prismatic termination. The piece as a whole is very bright and 3-dimensional, and I think its a good deal for the price.

This specimen is "elegant" in every sense. It features a slender but super quality aqua, 3.5 cm long, perched gently on a sharply angled feldspar crystal decorated with schorl and fluorite. Just a really fine piece that stands out from the crowd of Erongo pieces!
ex. Charlie Key
A GEM aquamarine about 2.5 cm long, perched in the side of a very sharp and lustrous schrol crystal - great contrast and stark symmetry make this piece have a lot of impact for the price!
ex. Charlie Key
A stellar cluster of upright aquamarines, complete all around 360-degrees, that is perched smack on top of crystals of smoky quartz. Its amazing, really, that it grew this way and survived! The aquas are majestic, how they reach up to a multilevelled termination. It look slike a cityscape on a mountain!

If I had to pick one miniature for sheer pizzazz, this would be it. The specimen features a really fine aqua with deep color, excellent glassy lustre, and complete all around....but its those associations that obviously make it outstanding and visually unique! Never have I seen a miniature from here with such interesting and unusual aesthetics, because of its associations with schorl and quartz. This full miniature is complete all around !

A really rich specimen for this material, which has been trickling out the last 2 years. However, most of them , all I have seen certainly, have much smaller botryoidal balls of shattuckite and thus less impact and significance. This is hands down the best I have in the collection in terms of significance, therefore.
ex. Charlie Key
Another exceptional shattuck/diop combo! These are very rare, and I have never seen but a few of them out of the small batches of the last few years trickling out of this locality. This piece has a rather large vug, and thus tons of shattuckite for the money...its probably more valuable, if less unique, split in half to sell as two shattuckite specimens. However, I think the novelty value of such a large intact pocket is worth keeping intact, even if its harder to photograph accurately. In person, its really impressive for the depth and rolling interior that is hard to show here
ex. Charlie Key
A shockingly intense blue quartz specimen, with brilliantly lustrous crystals colored by minute inclusions of shattuckite. This is the highest color intensity I have ever seen for the material, and the piece just glows from across the room with color
ex. Charlie Key
Brilliantly spessartine-orange garnets from the famous early 1980s find at Marienfluss! Almost all were found loose and although this isn't the gemmiest of them, its on matrix...something almost unhear dof for the find! This locality is long sinc edefunct.
ex. Charlie Key
A MASSIVE, football-sized specimen with glowing color and total 100% translucency throughout! You'd swear it was Chinese in quality if you didn't trust Charlie that it came out of this old tin mine when he got his other Uis pieces! Weight is several kilos! When backlit, this is more intense green and rivals even Chinese material! It GLOWS. NO DAMAGE to the 3-dimensional display face. contacted only about the periphery
ex. Charlie Key
Sharp, lustrous, isolated schorl crystals of this rare habit, perched starkly on crysatllized quartz matrix!
ex. Charlie Key
A strange specimen! This is a complete schorl, floating and doubly-terminated, complete and undamaged. But, millions of years ago probably, it separated and then rehealed even as it was forming leaving a slight disjunction at that point, resulting in the few millimeter sharp offset you see here. It LOOKS like the piece will slide apart like a few cards coming off a deck, but its on there, cemented back together in situ, and certainly at the same time it was even forming. Doubly-terminated.
ex. Charlie Key
A brillianlty lustrous cluster of sharp schorl, again on contrasting quartz matrix, shows off how good Erongo schorl can be! It is 3-dimensional, complete all around, and MUCH MUCH BETTER in person! This piece is pristine and complete save for a few very tiny dings or contacts that, in person, do not detract at all. I have seen such clusters before from Erongo, and thought highly of them...but the fact that this is perched upon crystallized smoky quartz takes it to the next level. And, I think the prices on these are pretty reasonable for world class exmaples of their species.
ex. Charlie Key
This is a schorl specimen so good, I just wasn't even sure at first glance it was...I mean, schorl is usually just black tourmaline, to be discarded as secondary in priority compared to a glorious gemmy crystal of color. But when you get ANY mineral specimen with such sharpness of form, contrast to matrix (crystallized matrix no less, not just rock), and eye appeal, even a traditionally secondary species to the collector can produce a first rate specimen of competition quality. This specimen is complete all around, and pristine save for a few very trivial contacts.
